Our Partnership with CanTeen

Lanyon Partners supports CanTeen as our chosen charity and participates in a range of fundraising activities with them throughout the year. One of the events that we are participating in with them is Courage for CanTeen, which involves our Administration Manager Dianne McKendrick jumping out of a plane to raise money for CanTeen.

Courage for  CanTeen – Dianne’s story

In February 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and the rest of that year turned into a fog of appointments and treatments (2 surgeries, 5 months of chemo & 5 weeks of radiotherapy).

This period was a roller-coaster ride of pain – both physical and emotional. I had to manage family and work life which included being a grandmother and also being the Administration Manager in a busy firm. I had an amazing support team around me, giving very practical support as well as encouragement when needed, a listening ear when I wanted to scream, or protection when I wanted to hide.

I know first hand the value of good support and that support needs are different for each person – and even at different stages of the process. I can’t imagine doing the journey without that. Sometimes though, while you may have a great family around, you just need people you can go to when you have the difficult questions to ask – or you even want a different environment for a period.

For our young people, whether experiencing cancer themselves or in a loved one, this is especially important, and CanTeen does an amazing job in helping them cope, rebuild their foundations and connect with others in the same boat.

I want to do something to help CanTeen in their work and am participating in their Courage for CanTeen 2019 as I jump out of a plane and sky-dive over the beautiful Yarra Valley in May to raise vital funds and awareness to support young people (12 – 25 years) who have been affected by cancer.

Help us help them
